BLIZZARD

There has not been much to post because we have been shoveling out our home.  We had the worst snow storm in history here.  Schools will be closed for at least the next 2 days.  I brought home my 100th day projects to work on.  However, I am doubtful we will make it to the 100th day at this point. 

 

I am trapped in my dead end street.  It is kind of eerie and not really safe.  No one could get to us if there was a real emergency right now.  The town has shut down, main roads only have one lane plowed, and forget about the schools.  They have not even been touched yet.  On a positive note, it has given me time to catch up on paperwork around my home, clean and organize, and do some school work...and of course work on my blogging skills!!!

Goodbye April vacation :( 
We have now officially lost all of our April vacation and it is going to be a LONG home stretch. 
We are having a blizzard here in the north east!!!  Well, at least it give me some time to play around with my blog and learn some new things!! 
It also gives me time to work on my 100th day projects....if we ever get to the 100th day of school!!

PRESIDENT'S DAY

These cuties are made from the same plate and paper.  Students colored a paper one side black and the other blue to make the hat and shirt.  Then they had to put it together correctly. It was a great following the directions activity.   

Teacher Probs!!!

So....today I got permanent marker on my favorite pants!!!  Oh No!!! Well my grade partner to the rescue.  She told me to use hair spray.  I'm sure many of you already know this but...wet the marker spot.  Then spray hairspray on a paper towel and blot onto the ink.  The hairspray draws out the ink.  It got rid of my permanent marker stain and made one happy teacher!!!

I am really learning this blogging thing and getting slightly addicted.  It made me look around my room and see what I can do to improve.  I have lots of ideas and will be sharing as I go.

Today we made heart people and I love.... books.  We are getting ready for Valentine's Day!!

We had fun learning how to make and cut out hearts....great for fine motor!

 

 

 

 

We made special Valentine books this week.  Our I Love.... Books.  Each page tells someone the student loves by writing a complete sentence.  The students had to use finger space and word wall words.  Then they had to stretch out the words that are not on the word wall.  We are working on sentence structure in Writer's Workshop. 

 

LET IT SNOW!!!

I wanted to share some of my recent winter projects with you before I change over to Valentine's Day!!

 

 

 

We read the story, Snowmen At Night, by Caralyn Buehner and then made these fantastic snowmen pictures.  The students had fun writing about what their snowmen can do at night!!

We did a nonfiction penguin unit.  These are some of the penguins we made.  We took a guess about some penguin facts before we began reading about penguins.  Then we read book about penguins to find the truth.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ACCOMPLISHMENTS!!!

Since I really don't like football, I had a lot of time tonight to play with my blog.  I am figuring it out and feel so accomplished.  This week I want to take some pictures of my classroom and post them.  Once I learn to add pictures, I can really take off!!  That is my goal for the week!

NO SCHOOL today because of power outages from our bad storm last night.  So, I am going to keep playing with blogger to get the hang of this. 
Tomorrow in kindergarten we will be predicting if the groundhog will see his shadow or not!!
